Yeah, alright... I have to say, I've said it before but I really do mean it, you guys. Starkid fans are... are the greatest fans in the world. You guys have been... incredible, thank you so so much-
There is such a perfect storm of crowd energy here that makes for a great performance. Lauren and Joey performed this song probably dozens of times, but this one in particular is really enhanced by the live recording element. It's got such an electric crowd energy, one that's shouting every word out along with the performers. From the instrumentation kicking in and the crowd bursting into cheers before anyone even starts singing, Joey realizes this is a special and particular crowd, and gets out a sheepish "thanks for the support" before really leaning into the energy the crowd is giving off later in the song. Lauren Lopez is Lauren Lopez. There is no way to improve on what she does, because she does it perfect.
At the end of the song, "finding a choir room or something to cry in" is the mood from the crowd, after a long song where everyone was screaming/singing their hearts out. That's what I really love about this recording in particular, it just has a really special energy to it that you honestly don't find in many live recordings, which mainly focus on the band. Compromising that recording quality just a little like on the SPACE tour album is for the best, I think, to capture that energy.
